EP 002 - Rusty Vanneman

Today I’m joined by Rusty Vanneman, who heads up CLS’s Portfolio Management Team overseeing all investment operations at CLS – investment philosophy, process, positioning, and performance. Rusty regularly shares market and investment commentary with the broader public and he is part of the management team for several of CLS’s proprietary mutual funds. In 2018, Rusty took on the role of President of CLS, in addition to his position as CIO. He joined CLS in 2012 as Chief Investment Officer. Previously, he was CIO of Kobren Insight Management (KIM) in the Boston area which was owned by E*Trade, where he held a joint position of Senior Market Strategist. Prior to working at KIM, he was a Senior Analyst at Fidelity in Boston and was also a Managing Analyst at Thomson Financial. He’s a Babson Grad, CFA Charterholder and a CMT. In addition, Rusty authored the book “Higher Calling: A Guide to Helping Investors Achieve Their Goals.” And in 2017, was named a Top 10 Fund Manager to Watch by Money Management Executive. FUN FACT: Rusty had a brief stint as a cowboy near the town of Valentine in Cherry County, Nebraska.
